How To Remove Acrylic Nails

Getting acrylic nails at the saloon can get pretty pricey, as is having them removed there. Thankfully you can do both at home these days. To add your own acrylic nails, purchase a kit in the drugstore. Once you grow tired of them, here’s how to remove them at home.

You can remove acrylic nails two different ways. You can purchase a professional acrylic nail removal kit at your local drug store, or you can invest a dollar or two in a large bottle of nail polish remover. Make sure you buy a kind that has acetone in it, not one of the gentler nail polish removers on the market these days.

Lay out several pages of newspaper on your kitchen table to prevent spills. Keep several paper towels close by as well to wipe off nail polish, dry your hands off and put the acrylic nails on as they come off.

Clip your nails as short as possible to make the process easier. Next apply some petroleum jelly to your fingers (except the nails) to prevent your skin from drying out completely during the soaking.

Pour the entire bottle of nail polish remover in a bowl. Warm it up in the microwave to make the process faster and easier. Soak your fingernails for about 15 to 20 minutes. The acrylic nails should start to come apart from your natural nail at this point. Gently peel them back a little and soak longer if they still seem pretty attached. Repeat this process until you can easily peel the entire acrylic nail off. Don’t force it, or you risk ripping your own nail out of the nail bed, which is very painful.

Wash your hands several times when you’re done to get all the acetone off. Use a good hand moisturizer. The acetone dries your skin out. Your nails will look very rough from the acrylic coming off. Use a nail buffer to smooth them out. They’ll start looking better after a few days.

This works, but you may want to remove the part that says to put the bowl of acetone (a highly flammable liquid) in the microwave. You might as well put a bottle of hairspray and a paint can in there with it. You will probably blow you and your microwave up if you put acetone in it! Just a thought!

DO NOT PUT IT IN THE MICROWAVE!!!!!!!!

Acetone is highly flammable. To heat it up, put the bowl of nail polish remover/acetone into a bowl of hot water. A double boiler works also, just keep the heat low to ensure a slow and safe process.

Take some aluminum foil and cut it into squares. Now, wet the cotton balls with acetone, lay it on the nail and cover it as tightly as possible with the aluminum foil. Repeat the procedure for all 10 nails or do one hand at a time. Do not open the foil for at least 20 minutes. Once the time elapses, remove the foils one at a time and with a wood pusher or orange wood stick scrape the acrylic off. Ideally it should come right off, however the process can be repeated if there are some traces left. Another way of removing the nails using acetones is to soak the hands in warm water for some time. Then soak them in acetone and the acrylic nails will then become soft and easily remove.how to remove acrylic nails

Great article on removing acrylic nails. I was looking for this for my cousin. Recently I also read about buying artificial nails online from the fashion expert J. Jones. Really, these days, false nails are the in thing in world fashion.

A good way is to have hot water in a bowl and put acetone in a sandwich bag put your hand in the bag with the the acetone then put the bag with your hand in it inside the bowl of got water and wait as long as you need to. If needed keep reheating the water. I do this process I must say with some music playing and a drink at hand and a comfortable seat it's pretty relaxing
